Cookie Policy
We use as few cookies as we can get away with. None of them track you across other websites, and we do not run advertising cookies of any kind.
What cookies are
Small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are essential — without them you could not stay signed in. Others are optional. This policy covers cookies and equivalent technologies such as local storage.
Which cookies we set
Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to function. They are set without consent because the Service cannot work without them, and you cannot turn them off while using the site.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages | Session, or 30 days if you choose “remember me” |
| Security token | Protects against cross-site request forgery on forms and payments | Session |
| Load balancing | Keeps your requests going to the same server | Session |
| Consent record | Remembers your cookie choices so we stop asking | 12 months |
Functional (optional)
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Preferences | Remembers interface settings such as text size or voice/text default | 12 months |
Analytics (optional, off until you agree)
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Usage analytics | Aggregate counts of page views and errors, so we can find broken things. IP addresses are truncated and the data is not used to identify you. | Up to 13 months |
Advertising
None. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, we do not run retargeting pixels, and we do not share cookie data with advertising networks. Given what people discuss with Lady Soraya, we consider behavioural advertising on this service indefensible.
Third parties
Our payment processor sets its own cookies on the payment page for fraud prevention and to complete your transaction securely. These are governed by that processor’s own policy. We do not control them and do not receive the data they collect.
We load web fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request to Google’s servers. This sets no cookies, but Google will receive your IP address as part of that request.
Controlling cookies
- On this site — use the cookie banner when you first visit, or change your mind at any time in Account → Privacy → Cookie preferences.
- In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you being able to sign in.
- Do Not Track — we honour browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by disabling optional analytics automatically.
Changes
If we add a cookie, this page is updated before it is set, and the date at the top will change. Material changes are notified by email.
